Head-On Collision Injures Four In West Valley

The most recent head-on collision occurred on August 19 on State Route 201 southwest of downtown Salt Lake City.

The collision

The Utah Highway Patrol received calls about a wrong-way driver heading west on SR 201 at about 11:40 p.m. Police attempted to intercept the vehicle, but they were too late. Before troopers reached wrong-way vehicle, a minivan, it had collided with a silver sedan. After the initial collision, the sedan was immediately side-swiped by a pickup truck. Troopers were able to remove the driver of the minivan and the driver and passenger in the sedan from their vehicles. The three were hospitalized in serious to critical condition. The driver of the pickup truck was also hospitalized in serious condition.

The Utah Highway Patrol said that the driver of the minivan appeared to be “impaired.” No further information was released.
